LUCKY
Lucky is a 96 page zine of original art and writing by Graham Rhyan. It also features two exclusive art interviews. One interview is with sacramento-born twee rock legend Rose Melberg, known for her bands Tiger Trap, The Softies, Go Sailor and more. We discuss all things Sacramento, tenderness, her newest album, how to handle long distance friendship, the But I'm a cheerleader soundtrack, grief, and much more. The other interview is with legendary San Francisco photographer Chloe Sherman, known for her documentary style work that focuses on the 90s dyke scene of SF's Mission District. Chloe and I discuss how San Francisco has changed, the importance of physical dyke spaces, queercore and her band Cypher in the Snow, gender-bending, how to sustain a creative community, and more. The rest of the zine focuses on my life from spring 2023-summer 2024 with themes of grief, transitioning (literally and figuratively), creative ruts, friendship, tenderness, san francisco, sacramento, north carolina, connecting with dyke elders, being lucky and much more. It is the most cohesive, important, and vulnerable work I have made to date. All black and white and all me! Sliding scale price.
